NoBurnOut

LAB

Care for those

who care for others.

As an art association, we work closely with educators, artists, and cultural professionals — and we see a growing challenge that can no longer be ignored.

The Reality

50%

Over

of teachers experience burnout, making education one of the most emotionally demanding professions.

70%

Nearly

of professionals report burnout within a year, often due to unstable conditions and emotional overload in the cultural and creative sector

2/3

More than

have considered leaving the field because of exhaustion in museums and galleries

In other words, those who inspire others — teachers, artists, curators, and cultural workers — are often the ones who need support the most.

This reality became the starting point for “NoBurnOut LAB”, a training for trainers held in Madeira, bringing together educators and cultural professionals to explore practical tools for resilience, emotional balance, and sustainable work.

The training is part of the Erasmus+ Accreditation project

Not a training.

A reset.

Our colleagues from Latvia, Estonia, Poland, Germany, Ukraine, and Portugal joined us in Madeira for “NoBurnOut LAB” — and let’s just say, it was anything but a typical training.

No long lectures, no endless presentations — instead, we created a hands-on, experience-based space to explore how to prevent burnout and bring back creative energy.

Creative Grounding

(aka hands in clay, finally)

We worked with paper, clay, textiles, and natural materials — making seed balls, crafting grain dolls, and remembering that not everything needs to be perfect (or even symmetrical).

Body Check-in

(yes, we do have bodies)

Through simple movement and breathing exercises, we explored where stress actually lives — and how to gently let it go.

Real talk

circles

We shared experiences of overload, deadlines, and “too much everything” — and quickly realized: it’s not just you, it’s all of us.

Small Actions, Big Shift

The Art of Doing Nothing

Surprisingly difficult. Sitting in silence without checking your phone or planning your next task turned out to be… a challenge.

Silent Walks &Resetting the Inner Clock

Walking without time pressure, without screens — just moving and noticing. Simple, but very needed.

Creative

expression

Through spoken word and storytelling, we turned stress into characters, ideas into stories, and chaos into something we could actually work with.

Small actions,

big shift

From leaving painted stones in nature to creating collective soundscapes — small, meaningful moments that brought everyone back to the present.

In the end, we didn’t “fix burnout” (if only it were that easy),but we definitely learned how to slow down, reconnect, and work in a more sustainable way.

And the story didn’t end in Madeira.

Back home, our colleagues carried the lab with them — into their own cities, teams, and communities. They shared the project, talked about Erasmus+, and opened conversations about something we don’t discuss enough: how not to burn out while working with young people.

They tested the tools, adapted the methods, and tried them in real life — with their groups, their colleagues, and sometimes just with themselves.

Because the real impact of a training doesn’t happen in the room —
it begins when you leave it.
