When you started painting, how did you discover your talent?
Sonia: I started painting on canvas at the age of 25, however, very early, at the age of 15, I realized that I had a lot of interest and aptitude for the arts, drawings, shapes, colors and mixture of colors.
Tell us more about your work, where do you find inspiration and motivation?
Sonia: My inspiration comes from within the soul and often comes suddenly, where I find motivation to draw, paint, photograph and take out everyday models so that I can portray on the canvas. Painting is a sensation that gives me a lot of pleasure and pride, which makes me dedicate myself to this wonderful art every day.
Your hobbies? How do you spend your time?
Sonia: I spend my time like a normal person, going to shopping malls, parks, tours and trips, but my hobby is really painting, which gives me great pleasure.
Would you support / participate in the renovation of the art project with open doors? What do you think about the project?
Sonia: I would participate with great pleasure and it would be a great honor and pride.
The "Portas Abertas" art project is a project that I consider very important for the island of Madeira and that greatly values art and culture in the region and that should be encouraged.
Is there an artist you admire and would like to reach out to?
Sonia: I have many references and I admire many artists, but I follow my path without pretending to reach this or that artist.
Where do you see yourself in the future, plans, fears?
Sonia: I see myself always painting and transmitting my knowledge and inspirations through the canvas.
I have no defined plans or fears, I just follow my life day by day hoping that I will always have one more day to be able to share my art.
