The Erasmus+ internship programme continues to open meaningful opportunities for young and emerging artists across Europe. It offers not only mobility, but also real engagement in creative processes, international collaboration, and professional development. The key lies in persistence and in finding the right partner.
In our case, this connection has proven to be strong and consistent. ARTE.M – Associação Artística e Cultural, in partnership with Art Center Caravel, has been developing ARThub Madeira for several years — a physical, social, and virtual space dedicated to artistic collaboration and creative industries.
One of the latest examples of this successful collaboration is the recent art residency with emerging artists Gizela Sztoika, Maria Chiorean, Mara Rusu, Silvana Băloniu, Patricia Alexa Farcaș, and Mihaela Ștețco from the University of Art and Design in Cluj-Napoca (Romania).
The residency resulted in a dynamic artistic dialogue, a final exhibition “Traces”, and new opportunities for the participants, including invitations to take part in upcoming exhibitions on the island in 2026.
This experience highlights how Erasmus+ can support not only education, but also real artistic production, networking, and long-term collaboration — especially when connected to initiatives like ARThub Madeira.
We continue to develop this direction, supporting young artists and building international partnerships through art residencies and collaborative projects.
