Are you ready to challenge fake news?
We scroll, we click, we share — sometimes without even thinking. The internet throws headlines at us faster than we can blink, and half of them are designed to provoke anger, fear or confusion. Memes, political posts, “expert opinions”, emotional stories… not everything we see is what it looks like.

How do we stay smart in a world full of digital noise?
By learning to spot lies, decode manipulation, and think before we hit “share”.
And this January, a group of young people from Portugal, Estonia and Latvia are coming to Madeira to do exactly that.
25–31 January 2026
FakeOut Lab: Think Before You Share
One full week.Three countries. Dozens of minds ready to explore how fake news works — and how to fight it.
Together, we’ll:
break down fake headlines,
learn real fact-checking strategies,
understand how disinformation spreads,
debate what “truth” even means today,
and build our own creative Anti-Fake Lab.
And yes — we’re doing it all in the art-filled spaces of Art Center Caravel and Art Hub Madeira, right in the heart of Funchal.Because creativity can be the strongest weapon against manipulation.
Why it matters
Fake news isn’t just annoying — it can change elections, divide communities, and hurt real people. The ability to analyse sources, doubt what feels “too dramatic”, and search for facts is now a core life skill. If we want a fair and respectful Europe, we need citizens who think critically, communicate responsibly and stay curious.
That’s the spirit of Erasmus+ and the heart of FakeOut Lab.

Beyond facts: connection
Young people won’t just study media — they’ll meet, share, laugh, argue (in a good way!), discover Madeira, celebrate other cultures, host intercultural nights and explore values that make Europe, well… Europe:
diversity
inclusion
tolerance
empathy
and freedom to speak, but also responsibility for what we say
FakeOut Lab is NOT about pointing fingers. It’s about understanding the world better — and becoming better for it.
Stay tuned
More updates are coming soon.Projects, experiments, challenges, thoughts, results — all born from real teamwork between young people from three countries.
Because the truth matters. And thinking before sharing might just be the most powerful super-skill of our generation.
