Our recent Multiplier Event in Madeira marked a powerful moment in the EmpowerCanvas journey — a project co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme (2022-3-PT02-KA210-YOU-0000176401) that aims to support at-risk youth through art and mindfulness.
Held at ARTHub Madeira, the event brought together youth workers, artists, educators, and mental health professionals for a dynamic day of sharing tools, stories, and creativity.

🧠 We Talked About…
Resilience and how young people can build it through creativity
The dangers and benefits of social media, explored through a powerful collage workshop with 30 young participants
How art therapy and mindfulness tools can help address anxiety, isolation, and emotional regulation
The importance of creating safe and inclusive spaces for youth expression and reflection
The launch of our EmpowerCanvas board game and a sneak peek of the digital platform
Participants engaged in hands-on activities, storytelling, and open dialogue about challenges like insecurity, fear of change, and digital pressure.
We Hosted Two Exhibitions
MIRA (2024) by Gabriel OlimA deeply personal exhibition exploring the emotional world of a young immigrant — his fears, sense of displacement, and hidden inner strength. Gabriel reflects on themes like anxiety, belonging, and the desire to fly despite fear.“I carry my world in fragments, but I still know how to move through it,” he shared.
Dupla Dicotomia by Appollo & TomásThis collaborative exhibition presented a visual conversation between two university students discovering themselves as artists on the island of Madeira.Their work explored themes of duality, vulnerability, and artistic identity — mirroring many of the ideas at the core of EmpowerCanvas.
“Resilience is continuing to create, even when nothing makes sense.” – Appollo & Tomás

💬 Reflections That Stayed With Us
Thanks to the EmpowerCanvas project — and especially our resilience board game, which engaged over 100 participants from 6 countries in offline sessions (and continues to grow online) — we gained valuable insights that allowed us to design meaningful art therapy and mindfulness sessions for youth.
We began this work in summer 2024, and it has since become a central part of our creative approach.
Creativity helps youth express what words cannot.
Art and mindfulness are not luxuries — they are lifelines.
Inclusive spaces spark healing, empowerment, and connection..
What’s Next?
We continue to test and share EmpowerCanvas tools across Europe with our partners in Portugal, Germany, and Croatia. Through workshops, exhibitions, and shared stories, we’re building a model that brings resilience through creativity to those who need it most.
