What connects the 18th-century Bavarian invention of lithography with a vibrant group of 50+ crafters, artists, and creatives gathering in a Swedish school in 2025?

Craftwork 4.0 All — that’s what. And you’re invited to be part of it.

From September 5–7, 2025, the charming Helliden Folk High School in Skövde, Sweden, will host the Craft Academy Sweden – a 3-day immersive workshop dedicated to lithography, paper, and linoleum. In-Person or Online

This isn’t just another printmaking course. It’s a unique blend of hands-on creativity, inclusive learning, and collaborative design — and it’s all part of a larger European grant-funded initiative aimed at reimagining craftsmanship for the 21st century.

A Little Lithographic History

Invented in 1796, lithography revolutionized image reproduction — and became a beloved medium for artists and illustrators. Fast-forward to today: this time-honored technique is being reexamined through the lenses of sustainability, entrepreneurship, and inclusiveness. At Craft Academy Sweden, we’ll honor the roots of lithography while pushing its boundaries, merging it with new materials, ideas, and business approaches.

What to Expect from the Workshop

Over three intensive and inspiring days, participants — both onsite and online — will dive into traditional and contemporary methods of printmaking, paper crafting, and linoleum work, all while co-creating real-world solutions through a collaborative hackathon format.

Day 1 – Setting the Scene

  • Welcome session & introduction to Helliden’s rich craft traditions

  • Guided sessions in lithography, paper, and linoleum techniques

  • Team formation & creative challenge reveal

  • Online participants: interactive theoretical exercises

Day 2 – Deep Dive into Design

  • Hands-on workshops with craft mentors

  • Team co-creation: designing sustainable, inclusive products

  • Prototyping, testing, and feedback

  • Online participants: share sketches & engage in virtual design process

Day 3 – Pitch & Present

  • Finalize prototypes and business strategies

  • Team presentations: from concept to craft-based business pitch

  • Online participants: share final contributions & receive feedback

Why You Should Apply Now
